On paper, on smartphones, computers, and also watches. Typefaces are everywhere. And now it’s time for celebrating with an international conference. This is Kerning Conference.
“L’infinito” (The Infinite) is the theme of 2018 edition. Technology is opening up new horizons and people have to see what things evolve. From June 6th to June 8th, Faenza will host international speakers to create a unique event. Three days full of interesting workshops and talk.
This year Kerning Conference will host Ewan Clayton, a calligrapher and calligraphy tutor on the type programmes at the University of Reading and Cooper Union in New York City. Berlin-based type designer and font engineer Amélie Bonet. Her design, Nokia Pure Bengali was awarded at the Granshan competition in 2014. Riccardo Olocco is a type designer and member of CAST – Cooperativa Anonima Servizi Tipografici. Others? David Jonathan Ross, Maximiliano Sproviero, Alessia Nicotra, Matt Willey and Erik Spiekermann.
Kerning Conference is also a non-profit event. Besides conference, from June 6th and 7th, it features four workshops based on creativity such as developing your own personal style in calligraphy, or finding professional approach to designing a typeface. Take a look at Workshop complete list here.
