Land art will soon replace sand castles on beaches thanks to Jim Denevan

For Jim Denevan, the world’s beaches are canvases for geometric land art.

The Californian artist has been using sand to create artworks for well over a decade. Using only sticks and sometimes rakes, the geometric patterns Denevan creates feature everything from concentric circles to hypnotic swirl patterns all etched into the sand were like to create castles on the beach.

Listen beautiful relax classics on our Youtube channel.

The works are temporary, though, as the tides take over and erase the designs. Great Big Story recently visited Denevan and produced a neat documentary-style featurette while he works. Check it out!
