Large-scale street sculptures hit the limelight in ‘Sculpture Walk Peoria’

Years ago, Joe Richey wanted to put large-scale sculptures on the streets of his hometown: Peoria, Illinois. The visionary owns a business, Tri-City Machine Products, located in the heart of the Warehouse District of Peoria. Because the arts had always been a big part of his passion, Richey later on modified a portion of his own facilities to create the Prairie Center of the Arts, as well as an artists’ residence space. It didn’t take long for him to return to his first love: large-scale street art.

Suffice to say, after years of hard work and collaboration with other like-minded individuals, Richey has made his dream into a reality. This is his brainchild: Sculpture Walk Peoria, an annual exhibit that features different artists and sculptures in his hometown. This year, 16 artists will represent 9 U.S. states and one other country with their installations, which will be on display until May 2017. Check out some of the sculptures involved in the showcase below.
