While many of us are able to enjoy some relaxing time off during the festive season, others have to spend Christmas at work. One person hard at work over the Christmas holidays was Delta Air Lines flight attendant Pierce T. Vaughan; however, her dad was adamant she wouldn’t spend it alone. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Peirce’s dad, Hal Vaughan decided to fly on all six of her scheduled flights so they could spend the holidays together.
Hal sat next to Mike Levy on their way to Detroit, who posted about the dedicated dad’s expedition on Facebook. “I had the pleasure of sitting next to Hal on my flight back home. His daughter Pierce was our flight attendant who had to work over Christmas,” he writes. “Hal decided he would spend the holiday with her. So, he is flying on each of her flights today and tomorrow around the country to spend time with his daughter for Christmas.”

Hal paid for his trip using his daughter’s reduced rate travel benefits, which meant he had to fly on standby for each flight. However, his risky plan paid off, and he made every one of Pierce’s flights over the two days. “Dad’s first trip using his benefits was a success,” Pierce wrote on Facebook. “A special thanks to all of the patient, wonderful gate agents around the country and my perfect crew. He made it on every flight and even got first class RSW-DTW [Southwest Florida to Detroit Metro] (Christmas miracle).”
In a statement from Delta, the airline confirmed Hal’s super-dad triumph. The company says, “We appreciate all of our employees for working during the holidays to serve Delta customers, and love seeing this awesome Dad having the chance to spend Christmas with his daughter – even while crisscrossing the country at 30,000 feet.”
This dedicated dad flew on 6 different flights with his flight attendant daughter over the holidays so he could be with her.
