Massive collages of Chinese cityscapes made at a rate of 1 per year

Chinese artist Yang Yongliang spins ancient Chinese landscape painting techniques into the digital era with his large-scale collages. Depicting massive dystopian cityscapes in stark black and white, the images are composed of hundreds of video and photo segments, most of which are originally shot in his hometown of Shanghai and surrounding areas.

His work conveys an immersive, futuristic world for one to get lost in, where details reveal themselves upon closer inspection. The pieces are best viewed in full-screen, to effectively take in their massive scope and size.

Yongliang has been making these collages since 2006 at the rate of only one or two per year. You can find out more at his official website here.
