Meilyr Jones on Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose | TateShots

Meilyr Jones brings Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose to life with a specially composed piece of music inspired by the painting.

Following last year’s critically acclaimed debut album 2013, and live performances at Glastonbury, Latitude, Green Man and End of the Road, Jones debuts a new piece inspired by and performed in front of John Singer Sargent’s painting Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose.

Listen beautiful relax classics on our Youtube channel.

Jones first noticed the painting as a postcard that his sister-in-law had put up in her home, commenting ‘the more I have seen it, the more I love it’.

This is the first time Jones has composed a piece of contemporary classical music on which he has worked closely with collaborator Joseph Davies, who he worked with on the album 2013.

The piece is performed by a group of twelve musicians, including a clarinetist and harpist, and conducted by Davies.
