Modernism of Merdeka: Exhibit showcasing 16 scale models of iconic architectural structures in Malaysia

With the aim of tackling the architectural advancements that Malaysia has achieved after the Merdeka period, the Manifest: Modernism Of Merdeka is currently available for viewing at the Galeri Petronas in Kuala Lumpur. The exhibit showcases 16 scale models of iconic architectural structures of the Southeast Asian country including the Subang International Airport, The Parliament House, Universiti Malaya’s Great Hall, and the Masjid Negara. All intricately detailed, the models featured were all built between pre and post-independence period years of 1957 and 1969.

In collaboration with the Malaysian Institute of Architects, the exhibit also highlights building plans, historical photographs, and early sketches of the buildings through a walkthrough to further relay to the audience the continuous growth of engineering and architecture in the country as well as acknowledge the “pioneering generation of Malaysian architects.”
