DeNormanville is a minimal residence located in Montréal, Canada, designed by TBA. The architects were tasked in creating a rear expansion that would properly navigate the typology of the site, all while making sure to preserve the original structure and maintain continuity among the neighboring facades.

The extension was brought forward to align with the frontage of its immediate neighbors, its facade carved out to provide protective space around a Siberian elm. The satellite volume is then connected to the original structure via corridor that runs along the east side of the property.
As explained by the architects, “From the onset, the intention was to celebrate the minimal, practical qualities of the original typology – to preserve the feeling of the “maison de plain-pied” and to give the extension an iconic quality rooted in a modern interpretation of the original one-story structure.”
