The Art of Activism is a monthly virtual speaker series hosted by Mural Arts Philadelphia that explores the process of creating art with the intention of moving people and policy.

Two conversations with artists and community organizers are coming up in September and October 2020: “Art of Activism: Can Art Help Save the Planet?” and “Art of Activism: Activism is a Choir, Not a Solo.” Registration is required for both events, which are free to attend.

Art of Activism: Can Art Help Save the Planet?

In this time of environmental upheaval, the need for change is immense. Art can bridge the gap between understanding and action by making even this existential threat feel concrete and present.

Join Mural Arts Philadelphia on September 17 to explore art’s role in the environment. Artist and series host Ginger Rudolph will moderate a conversation with activist Ron Whyte, designer Gamar Markarian, and artist Ginssiyo Apara on the role of art in environmental justice work.

Art of Activism: Activism Is a Choir, Not a Solo

Creating an equitable society requires the work of generations of contributions. This year has been a particularly turbulent time, pressing social justice issues to the forefront as we grapple with the basic morality of our country.

On October 15, join Mural Arts Philadelphia’s Ginger Rudolph for a conversation with artists Symone Salib and Tiff Urquhart as they discuss how they leverage their artistic voices in the chorus of progress.
