The architects removed any unnecessary past editions in order to enable fluidity throughout the space and provide a design adapted to contemporary use. The building’s characteristic simplicity offers an important neutrality to the artwork exhibited, which was furthered through the use of reinforced concrete.

The most prominent interventions are concentrated within the entrance hall, which frame the topographical scale of the site surrounding the museum. As described by the architects, “The curves of the new mezzanines lead the eye outside onto the forecourt. The project has respected the understated simplicity of the existing cladding and the marmo- real whiteness of the facade in order to ensure harmony and a degree of neutrality.”
