My Dear Yakutia by Alexey Vasilyev

Documentary photography by Alexey Vasilyev about Yakutia, the coldest region of Russia.

Alexey Vasilyev was born in 1985 in Yakutia, the coldest region of Russia. It’s also the largest region of Russia, but it is hardly explored. Only one million people live on three million square kilometers. There is no other region on the Earth where humans have to live in such a severe and contrasting climate. During summertime, the air warms up to 40 degrees Celsius while it can drop to 60 degrees below zero in the winter.

Below you can find a few images of Alexey Vasilyev’s ongoing photo project that documents this region and its inhabitants. For more of Alexey’s photographic work, please visit his website or follow this talented photographer on Instagram.
