NASA releases more than 8,000 HD images from the Apollo missions

While accomplishing perhaps the most challenging feat ever faced by humanity, Apollo astronauts took some time to capture some astonishing footage. Now, NASA has just unloaded approximately 8,400 high-definition images from their voyages.

Available for public consumption on Flickr, the images span from Apollo 7 in 1968 to the final Apollo 17 mission in 1972. The effort to bring the photos out to the public was headed by Kipp Teague of the Project Apollo Archive who had been scanning films footage for Johnson Space Centre since 2004.
