NASCAR Driver Bubba Wallace “Rage Quits” In An Esports Race

Apparently, the term “rage quitting” can not only be applied to gamers; it also can be applied to racers as well.

It was Lap 11 in the race that happened during the Food City Showdown from Bristol Motor Speedway. Racers Bubba Wallace and Clint Bowyer were next to each other when suddenly Wallace bumped the back of Bowyer’s car. Bowyer’s car was then spun out while Wallace’s car was put in the wall.

Wallace was so frustrated that he quit the race on the spot — not an entirely unusual response even in real-life racing, … — and later tweeted “I ruined so many peoples day by quiting (sic)..a video game.. Bahaha. A video game. Damn quarantine life is rough.”

Wallace’s real life sponsor, was understandably unamused by what he did. His sponsor said that he was fired, and also threw shade on Wallace via a tweet, saying that they’re “interested in drivers, not quitters.”

Wallace, however, still took part in another race, this time being the NBC eSports Short Track iRacing Challenge, with his car now wearing the US Air Force colors.
