Joel Meyerowitz was working in advertising in 1962 when he decided to quit his day job and become a full-time photographer. Adamant on setting out to document everyday life, he took his two Leica film cameras with him, one loaded with colored film and the other a black and white, and ventured the streets of New York.
The 60’s era was considered one of the turning points of culture and art. So it is not surprising that Meyerowitz was able to shoot one of the most interesting photo series in history. It will be on display at the Beetles+Huxley Gallery in London.

Talking about the series, Beetles+Huxley director says, “along with half a dozen other photographers of his generation, Joel Meyerowitz is responsible for the re-evaluation of color photography as a significant form of art.” Check out the photos we have collected from the gallery to take a peak of the 60’s.
