Notable artists that made waves from the recent VOLTA Fair in New York

This year’s VOLTA NY was a great success for the arts, solely contributing to the 96 outstanding exhibitors that participated in the event. For its 10th anniversary, the invitational art fair, the American version of Basel’s VOLTA show, curated works from up and coming artists with creations focusing on diverse present issues of the country.

One of the most notable artists that made a great impact on the fair is Hidenori Yamaguchi, a New York-based Japanese-born artist that contributed paintings with the unbelievable depth they look like photographs printed on beautiful Japanese paper. It took months for Yamaguchi to complete one and each costs $15,000.

Another favorite is Elizabeth Kleinveld & Epaul Julien’s photographs mimicking iconic paintings. One of them is Vermeer’s The Girl with the Pearl Earring which shows an Asian woman in place. Kathleen Vance’s Traveling Landscape has also captured quite a lot of interest at the exhibit. Each vintage suitcase in her installation houses stunning miniature landscapes with natural elements such as rivers, rocks, and greenery. Each suitcase costs about $4,000 to &10,000.
