The Battery Conservancy and NYC Park have been publicly displaying the Top 50 chair designs selected from the “Draw up a Chair” Design Competition which received 679 design entries from 1,500 artists located across 15 countries. Jurors include representatives from noteworthy NYC institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art and the New York Times.
Aiming to revitalize the Manhattan green space, “The Battery Conservancy’s goal for the competition is to promote innovative industrial design use in public parks and to encourage a new design standard for outdoor seating.” The winning design will have 300 units produced for use on the new Battery Green.
