Oil Paintings by Kirsten Beets

South African artist Kirsten Beets creates paintings of people and how they interact with nature in a recreational way.

Born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1983, Kirsten Beets is an artist with a special interest in people and how they interact with their environment in a recreational way. She mainly works with oil paint on paper to create imaginative but detailed scenes of a people, places and various objects. Her paintings seem to “transfer a fleeting moment into a physical object; elevating their significance and making them touchstones of memory.”

Kirsten Beets received a BFA from Stellenbosch University in 2005. Afterwards, she studied 3D animation at The Animation School. Later on, she worked as a texture artist for a post-production studio before pursuing further postgraduate education at Stellenbosch University where she gained a BPhil in illustration. Her work has been displayed in numerous exhibitions nationally and abroad. You can find more of Kirsten’s paintings on her website and Instagram account.
