Uncool Artist – UA International Artist Residency
UA Residency at the Brooklyn Navy Yard offers a unique studio experience, connections with diverse artists and curators, and a curated group show at UA Gallery. Tuition starts at $2,800 per four-week cycle. Financial aid is available.

Bayard Rustin Residency 
BIPOC artists and activists working on a project that addresses ending systematic racism can apply for this residency, which provides up to one year of room and board at Penington Friends House in Manhattan.

Galveston Artist Residency
For 10 months in Galveston, Texas, artists receive 24/7 access to studio space, an apartment nearby, a monthly $1,100 stipend, and more. The organization awards three residencies every year.

National Endowment for the Humanities – Fellowships for Digital Publication
These fellowships support scholars pursuing interpretive research projects that require digital expression and publication with a maximum of $5,000 per month for six to 12 months.

Roswell Artist-in-Residence Program
This yearlong residency in New Mexico is solely dedicated to the development of individual artists, who receive a monthly $1,200 stipend to support their practice with no specific project-based requirements. The fee to apply is $25.

Textile Arts Center – Artist in Residence Cycle 16
Providing a space to explore the textile medium, TAC AIR combines studio access with an interdisciplinary curriculum, regular critical dialogue, and mentorship. The nine-month program culminates in a group show in Brooklyn. Tuition is $11,000, the application fee is $35. A scholarship is available.

The American Library in Paris Visiting Fellowship
Artists, writers, and researchers receive $5,000 to work on a book or documentary project in Paris for at least a month while actively participating in the life of the American Library. The application fee is €30.

Velvetpark – 2024 Visual Artist Residency
Velvetpark is holding its fourth LGBTQ+ Visual Artist Residency. The selected resident will be awarded a live/work studio space in Brooklyn for six months, where they can begin or develop a piece into a complete body of work. The application fee is $25.

Visual Studies Workshop – Project Space Artist Residency
VVSW in Rochester, New York, provides time, space, and resources for experimental photo and media artists to make work. Each four-week residency comes with a private studio, housing, an analog darkroom, a $1,750 stipend, and more. The application fee is $10.

Waissac Project – Winter Residency
Artists receive 24-hour access to an adaptable, semi-private studio space in a historic grain elevator in Upstate New York, accommodations, and more. Fellowships with honorariums and no residency fees are available. The fee to apply is $25.

Open Calls for Art & Writing

Coined in the South: 2024 Biennial 
Southern US artists can submit work to this juried exhibition at the Mint Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina. Prizes range between $1,000 and $10,000. Selected artists also receive $350 for shipping and travel. The application fee is $40.

Perelman Performing Arts Center and Galvan Initiatives – The Democracy Cycle
Over five years, the Democracy Cycle will commission and develop 25 new performing arts works in theater, dance, music, opera, and multidisciplinary performance that explore democracy. Each project will be awarded $30,000.

Prospect Art – 4th Wall Open Call for Video Art
Visual artists worldwide are invited to submit video works that challenge traditional notions of belonging beyond colonial borders. Entries will be considered for exhibitions in Los Angeles, Lisbon, and online. There is a $10 entry fee.

Grants & Awards

Creative Capital Awards 
Creative Capital provides unrestricted project grants between $15,000 and $50,000 to innovative proposals in visual arts, performing arts, film/moving image, technology, literature, and multidisciplinary and socially engaged forms.

Helen Frankenthaler Climate Grants
More organizations are now eligible for this grant program, which has distributed over $10 million to nonprofit arts institutions for clean energy projects since 2021. Read more on Hyperallergic.

International Sculpture Center – 2024 Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Awards
The ISC presents its annual award competition to recognize the work of young sculptors, their supporting schools’ faculty, and their art programs. Faculty, nominate your sculpture students today! You must have a current ISC University Membership to submit a nomination.

National Academy of Design – Abbey Mural Prize
Artists, architects, designers, arts and community-based organizations, and other nonprofits can apply for grants ranging from $10,000 to $40,000 to create or restore public murals in the US.

New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) – Anonymous Was A Woman Environmental Art Grants
The AWAW EAG provides project grants of up to $20,000 to support environmental art projects led by women-identifying artists in the United States and US Territories.
