PHLEGM for Provocare Melbourne

UK street artist Phlegm was just in Melbourne, commissioned by the Chapel Street Precinct Association as part of the Provocare winter arts festival  The organisers spent two and half years planning this project, choosing the right artist, and finding the right wall for a large mural with a vision to become a landmark piece of public art for the area and add to the social fabric of the precinct . After several months of negotiating, a decision was made to use the northern wall of the historical Love and Lewis building built in 1913 and used as a department store for years before being converted into apartments. Phlegm was chosen not only for his large global following with people of all ages, but also as the organisers believed his style was sympathetic with the building’s architecture and surrounding area. With access via an adjacent open air car park, the artist battled the challenging Melbourne weather over a week to complete the four storey mural. Check out the sweet time lapse HERE
