One of the key skills you need as a photographer is being at the right place at the right time. This was the case for photographer Matthew Dippel who accidentally witnessed a romantic proposal between two strangers at Yosemite National Park in California. Positioned from afar, Dippel snapped the beautiful moment, creating a breathtaking engagement photo most couples could only dream of. Now, the talented photographer is on a mission to find the mystery lovebirds so that he can share the photo with them.
Dippel turned to Twitter for help, posting the photo in hopes that it might get back to the couple. He writes, “Twitter help, idk who these two are but I hope this finds them. I took this at Taft Point at Yosemite National Park, on October 6th, 2018.” As of today, his tweet has almost 150,000 retweets and over 1,000 comments, but he’s still yet to find the couple.

At the time, Dippel was waiting for his friend Josh to walk out onto the cliff point. “Before he walked out onto the ledge the couple did first and then next thing I knew he was on one knee,” he explains. “I had my settings all ready to go, due to waiting for Josh, so I just snapped away and managed to get a beautiful photo.” Dippel tried to find the couple shortly after, but unfortunately couldn’t make them out from the crowd that had gathered there. He recalls, “There were maybe 12 other photographers there along with three or four brides and grooms taking photos at the point.”
