The colors we choose to surround ourselves with can significantly affect our mood. While dark colors are usually associated with negative feelings, brighter colors are known to help boost your spirits. If you’re looking for your happy place, perhaps the upcoming pop-up exhibition by the Color Factory is exactly what you need.

Having originally opened in San Francisco last year, the new rainbow-hued playground for grown-ups is coming to New York City in early August 2018. Located at 251 Spring Street in Soho, the 20,000-square-foot pop-up museum will house a “new palette” of colorful installation art from national and local artists. Designed to “awaken audiences to the everyday yet brilliant presence of color,” the immersive exhibition is sure to bring out your playful side. And if last year’s curation is anything to go by, it will provide plenty of Instagrammable moments too!

Although you’ll have to wait a few weeks to explore the new exhibition, the Color Factory have provided a preview of what’s to come with the Manhattan Color Walk at the Cooper Hewitt in the Upper East Side. The colorful striped walkway in the design museum’s garden is made up of the various hues found in Manhattan. From the candy pink of an ice cream van to the lime green of public seating on 15th Street, the 265 colors all correspond to moments encountered by the creative team while exploring the borough. Co-founder Jordan Ferney explains, “You look at the city differently when you’re searching for color. I was just staying in New York last week — I walked by a construction barricade that was bright-red striped, and I was like [gasp].”
