Polly Verity creates mesmerizing three-dimensional geometric repeat patterns in paper

Origami is a type of paper art that has been practiced for hundreds of years. Another paper art closely related to it is a relatively younger art called tessellation which first came out in 1920’s. Polly Verity is a paper folding designer from Great Britain who specializes in this kind of art. Born to artist parents, she grew up in an environment where the abundance of art materials left her hands with no choice but to experiment.

One of her major influences is her step-grandfather, Eric de Mare, who wrote the book “Your Book of Paperfolding” in the 1960s. He handed her a copy when she was 8 and her journey with transforming a flat sheet into a three-dimensional object has blossomed since then. Check out her website and Flickr to see the rest of her works.
