Make art with us! These exhibition-based workshops encourage creative inspiration for different activities, so make sure to check out the corresponding galleries. No prior art-making experience is necessary; our friendly staff will happily work with you on your creation. All ages are welcome!
These workshops take place on Saturday, September 7, 14, 21, 28.
Often, when we think about resilience, images of strong women come to mind. They might be part of our families, or they might be people we admire from afar. Art allows us to celebrate these figures and also highlight how they are often overlooked. Simone Leigh, an interdisciplinary artist, works with materials like bronze, clay, cowrie shells, and raffia. Through these materials, she explores themes related to Black women, femininity, and the African diaspora.
This September, join us as we delve into Leigh’s art. We’ll reflect on women in our lives or throughout history who have inspired us. What forms, colors, or materials remind you of this person? These are some of the questions we will ask ourselves as we create an extraordinary artwork! Taught by artist Bianca Argueta.
