From afar, these dynamic sculptures look like they’re plants from some distant alien planet. Up close, they’re totally different.
Israeli born artist Zemer Peled uses porcelain to create textured large-scale sculptures that mimic the appearance of feathers or something that’s silky smooth. However, when you get up close, you find that these once flowing sculptures are composed of hundreds of sharp ceramic points. Mark Moore Gallery writes, “The forms are never static; the visual dance of sharp ceramic parts conveys a sense of constant movement. Like a murmuration of starlings, the sculptures appear to shift shapes as you move around them, an identity becoming and unbecoming in front of you.” Check out the sculptures below and find more of her work on her website and Instagram.
