Postcards from isolation

The word “isolation” comes from insula (lt.) [island]

We’re all stuck in small spaces, these days, surrounded by restrictions that condemn us to an unwanted condition of insularity.

Listen beautiful relax classics on our Youtube channel.

The current situation led us all to redefine the interactions between us and others.Even our habits at home are changed, due to the rhythm of days going slowly.

“Postcards from isolation” is an open process of reflection on our current condition. It’s a collection of collaborative & interactive experiences that represent the shifts in our lives caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Day to Day to by Kiel Mutschelknaus

The origin of the project is a reflection on the social, cultural, and economic impact of being in isolation.Being isolated these days corresponds to the uniqueness of geographical islands – spaces that enforce a different connection to the land and its resources, places that shape human identity as no continent does.

“No man is an island, entire of itself;every man is a pieceof the continent,a part of the main.”John Donne

The consequences of lockdown policies during the worldwide COVID-19 outbreak are hard to guess. Are we shifting towards becoming islands? Or, now more than ever, we’ll stick to our native lands?

“Postcards from isolation” wants to explore this condition and collect memories about this experience. Although, postcards are a nice way to keep people connected even when far away.

The platform has won FWA Site of the Day soon as it was online. The existing version includes a selected number of experiments but the project is constantly evolving.Anyone is invited to submit ideas via isolation.is
