Razer's Portable, Fast-Set-Up Blue Screen Backdrop

We live in a time when Herman Miller is making gaming chairs and Razer, a gaming computer and accessories manufacturer, is selling room screens. I can’t decide if these are, technically speaking, decorative screens or not. The Razer Blue Screen is a portable, quick-to-set-up backdrop aimed at Twitch streamers and the like. The idea is that you hide the sad reality of the room you’re broadcasting from, and use some movie magic to present whatever backdrop you’d like, with the low-luminance blue providing pro-quality keying of your person.

Listen beautiful relax classics on our Youtube channel.

At a maximum size of 62″ wide by 78″ tall, “the screen’s expansive size means your backdrops will comfortably cover the entire frame, leaving no unsightly borders to keep your stream looking clean and professional,” the company says.

The frame deploys or retracts with a single button press. Packed, the unit is just five inches deep and four inches high.

The screen runs $150. You can buy a 53″ wide, 18′ long paper seamless backdrop from a photo supply place for around $20, but that doesn’t include the set-up hardware, time and hassle. Twitch popularity being what it is, I think Razer’s going to move a lot of these.
