Using a bold combination of subject matter Gurt Swanenberg has painted real animal skulls with the logos of the world’s biggest brands. Adding the iconic imagery to an obvious symbol of death, Swanenberg aims to highlight the negative, maybe deadly, effects of consumer culture.
Swanenberg takes a shock approach to his artwork with a refreshingly direct opinion on the matter. He does not ask the viewer to search for an answer, but lays it out blatantly in front of them.
