Japanese artist Norihito Hatanaka has elevated the plastic food tradition into something actually wearable. The artificial food items, usually used as decoration in Japanese eateries, can look good enough to eat, but to wear as quirky fashion accessories? Fruit salad, smoky bacon, curry rice dishes, and banana slices become kitschy necklaces, earrings and headbands.
The jewelry is made out of silicone, liquid plastic, oil paint, airbrush, and more. Hatanaka’s goal is to open an exhibition for his plastic food creations in the near future. You can see his dedication to culinary authenticity in each accessorizing piece below. Would you consider wearing this realistic food jewelry?
