French artist Cal Redback has combined his skills in digital photography with his skills for photo retouching to create hybrids that combine people with nature. The collection of ‘treebeards’ he’s created combines greenery with the human face. The single image titled ‘herbraiser’ shows a woman’s face growing rose thorns, like an organic version of Pinhead from Hellraiser.
These hybrids of botanical and mortal life redefine the idea of “human nature” in a surreal and spectacular way. Check out a handful of these impressively real renderings below.
