“Renaissance of Mother Gaia” by Jacquie Comrie in Toronto, Canada

Critically acclaimed artist Jacquie Comrie just unveiled Renaissance of Mother Gaia in Toronto’s west end, turning a bland outdoor wall into a kaleidoscope of colour. Drawing from colour psychology, with a palette specifically selected to bring hope and healing to the community, the mural is ever more relevant right now with the year we’ve all had.

Spanning over 1,800 sq ft, this mural was commissioned by developer ELAD Canada to bring vibrancy to Toronto’s west end community as it undergoes a major revitalization. This is the third public art installation commissioned by ELAD, the other two completed by Toronto artist Thrush Holmes.

Jacquie Comrie is a Toronto-based multidisciplinary artist whose vibrant body of work intersects contemporary art and wellness at a global scale, using colour as a medium of social impact and mental health.

Whether as murals on buildings, large scale structures, or canvases, her body of work is a dynamic exploration of the science of colour as the universal language of human emotion. Colour has been proven to have a direct effect to human emotion, for which her palettes are consciously designed and orchestrated aiming to cater to mental wellbeing at large.

Her trademark use of bright colours have transcended beyond Toronto, with featured work in cities across the world including Miami, Madrid and Panama City.
