Rendering Fixes: Bringing the Design of the Lexus IS 350 Back Into Balance

Two auto manufacturers whose designs cannot be accused of “following the pack” are BMW and Lexus. That being said, I’m not sure what either design team is doing when it comes to front ends, in particular. These parts of their cars now look like they were designed under heavy stimulant use, and/or to complicate life for their clay modelers.

Industrial designer Michael DiTullo tackled a BMW rendering fix earlier this year; now he’s back to clean up Lexus’ IS 350. Not just the front end, but the extraneous lines and surfaces that run the length of the car. I think his redesign is a tremendous improvement:
