“My father ordered us to play music, paint, and more until we were 10 years old. After we turned 10 if we didn’t have any interest in the arts we were allowed to choose something else. But I took an interest in art. I created art and music, I became a movie director… Directing is the art of storytelling.”
These were the words of Myanmar icon Win Pe. Throughout his career, he has become an award-winning director and filmmaker, as well as a radio producer in other Western countries. He is now 82 years old – and has dabbled into various fields of art, including working as a cartoonist, writer, and editor. However, painting seems to be the core of his interests even after all these years.
