Repeating patterns in flowing hair extends reality in this interesting female portraiture

Madrid illustrator, Gabriel Moreno has a way with lines. His line-work nearly dominates his drawings, creating luscious pathways and texture.

Often incorporated into his images as long locks of hair, the repeating lines create form through pattern. In a recent interview, Moreno states that he is inspired by “the ability of drawing to multiply that beyond reality.” In his work, this idea of extended reality is often framed around a face or a human figure which anchors the image as a focal point.
