‘Persona’ is the ongoing series of portrait photography by Atlanta-based artist Jason Travis. The photographer started this marvelous series of diptychs in 2007, when he decided to get to know his friends on a deeper level. What better way to get to know someone than to sneak into his or her personal belongings? Travis’s diptychs always consist of the portrait of the person above, and that person’s everyday items arranged in a playful way below.
The series lets the viewer glimpse into the hidden content of strangers’ pockets or bags. At the same time, Travis beautifully reveals how ordinary little things can connect the people or tell their story.
