Room-sized cake installation blends sugary goodness and violence

Ever want to physically be inside of a cake? Then you need to pay a visit to Break Bread LA’s new installation.

For 30 days at the Think Tank GalleryScott Hove and Keith Magruder (aka Baker’s Son) prepared a room-sized cake installation measuring in at about 7,000 square feet. The frosting and layers of cake are accentuated by details that evoke senses of darkness rather than the cakey goodness visitors are looking for. Hove says, “To contrast that bougie cake look, I collect items that have an inherent violence, but beauty at the same time. That’s why I choose things like switchblades, wolf jaws, and leopard jaws.”
