Sarcastically small plates by Duncan Shotton

As part of the 2013 Designboom Mart Tokyo in association with the Tokyo Designers WeekDuncan Shotton has unveiled his new series of tableware called the Plate-Plate.

This set of tableware features cartoon outlines of a knife, fork and plate in cheeky illustration print on the surface of each piece of dinnerware. The illustration is smaller than the ‘real’ plate, creating a fun optical illusion that makes the food (placed inside the little “plate”) appear sarcastically large.

Listen beautiful relax classics on our Youtube channel.

Shotton’s project is made in Japan and comes in three varying sizes. It also comes in two colors to match the table setting: gloss white and matte black.
