SCAD Collaborates With Cerámica Suro for Design Miami/

The Savannah College of Art and Design presents SCAD AT MIAMI, a celebration of design innovation, contemporary art, and creative education, taking place November 30–December 4, at Design Miami/. For this year’s fair, SCAD collaborates with internationally celebrated Mexican studio Cerámica Suro on vibrant collections of glazed tiles by SCAD alumni artists Nicolas Barrera (MArch; BFA, architecture, 2018), Lauren Clay (BFA, painting, 2004), Gonzalo Hernandez (MFA, fibers, 2019; MA, painting, 2018), Cory Imig (BFA, fibers, 2008), Abel Macias (BFA, illustration, 2002), and Nikita Nagpal (MFA, fibers, 2019).

Reflecting the artists’ unique creative visions, the tiles are showcased in a dramatic arched intervention by Barrera. The immersive installation, which also features new lighting and furniture designs by SCAD alum Marcelo Suro (BFA, industrial design, 2022), transforms over the course of the fair with a different collection enlivening the space each day. SCAD AT MIAMI embodies the university’s mission to provide opportunities for SCAD students and alumni to present their work on an international platform.
