Follow LACMA curators Dr. Diana Magaloni and Julia Burtenshaw on a six-year journey to develop the exhibition The Portable Universe / El Universo en Tus Manos: Thought and Splendor of Indigenous Colombia.
In this documentary series, you’ll see their collaborative process with the Arhuaco community, including research trips to Colombia to build relationships with colleagues and Indigenous representatives, and how the team overcame challenges in the design, interpretation, and display of the artworks. The episodes will be followed by a post-screening conversation with the curators Diana Magaloni, Deputy Director, Program Director, and Dr. Virginia Fields Curator of the Art of the Ancient Americas and Suzanne D. Booth and David G. Booth Conservation Center Director; Julia Burtenshaw, Assistant Curator, Art of the Ancient Americas; filmmaker Agnes Stauber, Vice President, Digital Content & Strategy at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, and producer Alexa Schulz.

This event takes place in person at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ Ted Mann Theater.
