“Seated Ballerina” inflated sculpture by Jeff Koons at Rockefeller Center

For the third time, Jeff Koons is headed back to Rockefeller Center with a brand new public art project entitled “Seated Ballerina” and presented by the Art Production Fund.

Listen beautiful relax classics on our Youtube channel.

This inflatable piece is the second ever created by Jeff Koons, the first one was a giant Rabbit balloon that floated in Times Square during the 81st Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on November 22, 2007

Koons is revisiting a recurring subject, a ballerina perched on a stool, adjusting her shoe. Coming from his “Antiquity” series, the figure is inspired by a turn-of-the-century porcelain ballerina figurine found in a Russian factory. Jeff Koons has already created two versions of the piece, one just a foot-and-half tall made from hand-painted wood, the other seven feet tall and made from the artist’s signature mirror-polished stainless steel with colored coating.

“Jeff Koons: Seated Ballerina” is on view at the Rockefeller Center starting today, May 12th until June 2, 2017.
