See this giant Rubik’s Cube float down the Hudson River

A giant Rubik’s Cube floating down the Hudson River certainly makes for an eye-catching photo opportunity. Inflated on a barge, the float trip passed such landmarks as the Statue of Liberty, the World Trade Center and the Empire State Building. It’s rare to see a great PR stunt, but this event is delightful, even while being a bit strange.

The event was sponsored by the Liberty Science Museum in promotion for their interactive exhibition Beyond Rubik’s Cube. As the cube turns 40 and inventor Ernő Rubik turns 70, the exhibition celebrates these milestones with the world’s first museum show dedicated to the Rubik’s Cube. The exhibition will be on display at the New Jersey museum for seven months before a scheduled tour with locations around the globe.
