workbycasey takes pictures of household items–food, toys, etc.–dipped in plastic. Yup, plastic. He’s responding to the gross plastification of our lives and our consumer behaviors. So much plastic! And so much of it carelessly discarded.
The artist is trying to draw attention, in a playful way, to plastics’ materiality–to acknowledge that it is a material, and as such, has inherent physical properties and an inherent lifecycle.

If we begin to understand plastic’s material traits, we can shift the way we think about it; instead of seeing it as a throw-away, impermanent thing, we can understand it’s strengths, weaknesses, and lifecycle. Hence, Plastidipped!
