Shortlisted winners of the World Interior of the Year 2017 announced

78 finalists of the World Interior of the Year have recently been announced and, while the nominees all hail from different parts of the world, Greater China and Australia racked up the most nominations.

Because of the increase in architectural changes during the 2008 Beijing Olympics, architects and designers based in Greater China all wanted in on the action. This has paved the way for more innovative and globally competitive designs from the Chinese. China-based designers were also the big winners last year. Most of the nominations this year were under the Bars and Restaurants category including a coffee shop cum guest house designed by Beijing-based design firm Office AIO. Australia was also seen to rise this year racking up 12 nominations including 4 for design firm SJB.
