Software engineer creates PC game that lets you zoom in on hand-drawn illustrations

There is no existing game in the market today like Gorogoa.

Picked up by Annapurna Interactive, a branch of the LA-based movie production company Annapurna Pictures, Gorogoa is the name of a new and upcoming game that lets you zoom in on storybook-like illustrations. Jason Roberts, the mastermind behind the unique puzzle game, took 5 years to complete Gorogoa because he wanted to make the illustrations himself. This is solely for the reason that people can not only appreciate the hand-drawn patterns but also for them to get lost in it.

Talking about the game, Roberts says that “each panel is a window into a different part of a story. You can interact with each panel as if it were its own first-person adventure game. You can move around in space within each panel. You solve puzzles by fitting two different panels together. They fit together to form a continuous scene.

The game is due to be released this year.
