Spotify Going Down Prompted People To Post These 50 Memes And Reactions

I think it’s safe to say that music is so integral in our lives as human beings that it would be extremely weird to meet someone who’d claim they don’t like listening to music. At all.

So, it should come as no surprise that music streaming services and apps like Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and others are so popular. And speaking of Spotify, it went down yesterday, prompting a lot—like A LOT—of reactions from music junkies online.

Twitter became the chosen platform of channeling their inner meme, and the trend went viral very quickly.

So, the Spotify music streaming service ran into a bit of a rough patch yesterday evening when its users started experiencing a very strange phenomenon—they were mysteriously logged out and couldn’t log back in.

This anxiety-inducing bit of shenanigans caused many of its 400 million active users to rush to various websites, including Down Detector, which is a website dedicated to figuring out if a service is actually down or if your Wi-Fi is experiencing the runs.

It is important to note that not everyone was experiencing this, but the very vocal majority made sure it felt like everyone was.

The preferred method of status detection, though, became Twitter, which is where the Spotify Status account is. Its job is to let people know if their favorite music streaming service is experiencing any hiccups.

Which it was. In their tweet, they wrote “Something’s not quite right, and we’re looking into it. Thanks for your reports!” In about an hour, they managed to fix the issues and let everyone know that if they continue to have problems, they should get in touch with another dedicated Spotify account, Spotify Cares.

But that one hour was one hour too much to be living without music (as if YouTube and other streaming services didn’t exist, but whatever), and people started venting their anxieties, frustrations, and general feelings about the situation in meme form.

Again, on Twitter, people saw an influx of images perfectly depicting people’s feelings about stuff not working.

Among the sad kittens (and sad anything) and shouting memes, there were also memes taken from Among Us (Meeting Time), classical memes of people very expressively showing their disapproval, and various cartoon memes, including X-Men, Spongebob and the like.

But that’s not all—Discord was having similar issues as well as their servers seemed to be down too, which only added to the suffering of those using both services.

But back to Spotify. On Down Detector, users reported the outage in about 30 minutes, nearly 70,000 people said. As the status stands now, reports peaked at almost 180,000, but Spotify had already known about the problem at that point and was hard at work fixing it.

There is unfortunately no official explanation as to what happened, but about an hour after it went down, Spotify Status said it’s up and running, and if there are any other problems, continue complaining!
