There is nothing in our lives that wasn’t created by someone. From your laptop to your favorite coffee mug to the bottle of shampoo in your shower, the work of product designers is so ubiquitous that it’s often nearly invisible. The recently-launched Airgora aims to change that. It’s both an online community and a marketplace for product and industrial designers to showcase their work.
The platform is the brainchild of designer Leona Hu Hudelson. She spotted a connection gap in the marketplace: Companies need designers to turn ideas into products, designers need better ways to promote their services, and consumers need an easier way to find the products with best designs. Airgora closes that gap by giving designers the opportunity to raise their visibility to hardware companies and manufacturers, and providing consumers with a great place to discover designs and purchase great products.
Airgora is kicking off the new year with a competition for the best original product design ideas that redefine love in 2017. Whether it’s designing furniture for your loved ones, technologies to bring strangers together, or gadgets to make our world more inclusive, you’re only limited by your imagination. If you’ve made a resolution to do more this year to make the world a better place, this is your opportunity unleash your ideas on the world.
And there are two prizes on the table. The Grand Prize winner will receive a Bradley Element watch by Eone. The Community Choice Prize winner, determined by the most ‘likes’ on Airgora, will receive a Fade Task Light by Box Clever. Both winners and their designs will be featured in Airgora’s SHOWCASE magazine.

And if you’re looking for a little inspiration to get those creative juices flowing (or just want to visualize yourself gracing the pages), check out SHOWCASE magazine, Airgora’s 120-page bi-annual print magazine that highlights some of the industries most well-respected designers and exposes the stories behind their work. The magazine aims to fill the big industry gap left by the 2010, closure of I.D. Magazine. Since then, the product design industry has been left without a print publication and most designers have turned to social media and websites to market their work. As a designer herself, founder Leona Hu Hudelson felt like online just wasn’t quite as tangible as print.
