The Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University is pleased to present Artists on the Future: The Komal Shah and Gaurav Garg Artist Conversation Series. Artists on the Future pairs renowned artists and cultural thought leaders to talk about the role that art and artists play in addressing issues vital to our future.
The latest installment features Darren Walker, the president of the Ford Foundation, in conversation with Cecilia Alemani, the Donald R. Mullen, Jr Director & Chief Curator of High Line Art, about her acclaimed 2022 Venice Biennale. They will discuss the most attended Venice Biennale to date and its impact on the future of art and representation. The conversation will be hosted by Veronica Roberts, John and Jill Freidenrich Director of the Cantor Arts Center.

Cecilia Alemani is an Italian curator based in New York. Since 2011, she has been the Donald R. Mullen, Jr Director & Chief Curator of High Line Art, the public art program presented by the High Line in New York. In 2022, she curated The Milk of Dreams, the 59th International Art Exhibition at La Biennale di Venezia. In 2018, Alemani served as Artistic Director of the inaugural edition of Art Basel Cities: Buenos Aires. In 2017, she curated the Italian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale.
Darren Walker is president of the Ford Foundation, a $16 billion international social justice philanthropy. Under his leadership, the Ford Foundation became the first non-profit in US history to issue a $1 billion designated social bond to stabilize non-profit organizations in the wake of COVID-19.
The conversation between Cecilia Alemani and Darren Walker will be hosted by Veronica Roberts, Director of the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University.
