After painting several pieces in Tokyo, Japanese street artist Ryo Ogawa, better known as RoamCouch, recently stopped in Fukushima to participate in the local art event “Hirono Art Camp”.
The stencil-master spent 4 days working on a brand new mural in a public park. The local kids joined the event to stencil and spray paint more than 100 stars on the side of a windmill, which is the symbol of the town of Hirono-machi. Regarding the new mural entitled “Stardust”, RoamCouch says the following:

“I painted a mural that can give people in Fukushima, especially kids, the energy to warm up their own community with smiles. I mainly designed the image to enable kids to join in and put their own mark on the mural. The building itself is a windmill, and has stood at the same place for many decades. That’s why it is the symbol of Hirono-machi. Unfortunately, the windmill is no longer functioning and won’t be fixed due to cost. But one of the locals mentioned to me that they feel the significance coming back to the windmill because of my mural. I was glad to hear that.”
