Strange warped window marries religion and art in London church

The Church of St. Martin in the Fields, Trafalgar Square, London is home to an abstract design that appears to be taken right out of a Dr. Who novel. Talented visual artist Shirazeh Houshiary was in charge of the project to redesign one of the church windows. Her creation combines tradition and the idea of passing time in a wacky window that brings a smile to all of the church’s visitors.

The Iranian artist met the design in a way that marries religion and art with an intricate construction that forms an illuminated spectacle. The warped window is made up of horizontal and vertical lines that seem to endlessly move towards a median aperture, allowing the Sun to illuminate the interior every evening.
