Marko Korosec recently made the challenging winter trek up Mount Javornik to a popular Slovenian ski center. After battling extreme conditions, the weather photographer arrived to an extraordinary sight – rime ice. This weather phenomenon is caused by incessant winds and freezing fog that builds up layers of ice, decorating trees and structures with wild unnatural-looking ice spikes.
Korosec explains his inspirations, “I simply love Mother Nature and sharing its beauties with everyone. Being able to observe, study and photograph its natural wonders since my first touch with DSLR camera back in late 90s. I am a worldwide storm chaser and traveller, spending lots of my free time in the nature, observing weather phenomena, mountains, etc. My photography is mostly focused on extreme severe weather events e.g. storm structure, tornadoes, lightning.”
