Stunning images of motion captured fencing

Fencing is a sport that evolved from swordsmanship for duels and self defense. Nowadays it is featured in the modern Olympic games. It’s elegant, and requires strength, speed, and precision. For someone who doesn’t practice it, it’s hard to follow a fencing match. There’s posture, footwork, and parrying methods that go unperceived when you’re unfamiliar with them.

Yuki Ota, Japan’s first fencing Olympic medalist, in collaboration with Dentsu Lab Tokyo, developed the Fencing Visualized Project, to enable viewers to intuitively comprehend the rules and techniques involved during the competition.
